and knife sharpening.

Reasons for keeping tools and knives sharp.

Introduction to the workshop’s Tormek Water Cooled
Grinder.
Machines and tools to be used:
Tool sharpening devices including the workshop’s Tormek Water Cooled
Grinder.
Learning process/procedure:
The learning process will be mostly by demonstration.
Prerequisite skills; what level of
competency/expertise is required for safe, successful participation:
None, other
than an interest in carving and the sharpening of carving tools and knives.
Project/product to be made:
Nothing will
be produced, although it is hoped that students watching the demonstrations
will be able to acquire sufficient knowledge that they will begin to sharpen
their own tools and equipment afterwards.
Duration of course:
The course
will run concurrently alongside the Introduction to Basic Carving Class, Course
#201.
Cost of materials beyond the basic $10
No
additional fees are charged beside the fees
paid for enrolment to course # 201.
